Run, Barack, Run

Yesterday, while sitting in Barnes and Noble, I started reading Barack Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope." Now Im not a very seasoned political thinker, but I have to admit that something about the book really grabbed me. Not only did I find myself agreeing for the most part with his opening chapter, but I found myself incredibly impressed with the fact that Barack Obama has one major characteristic that no American president has had in my lifetime: the ability to communicate his own thoughts in an intelligent way. As I understand, Barack made no use of a ghost writer for his book. His words are his own. And that impresses me to no end. We currently have a president who cant even pronounce simple English words and who has consistent trouble reading the prompter during his speeches. What a breath of fresh air it would be to have a man in office who is as eloquent as Obama. I know eloquence is not everything when it comes to politics, but I think it does go a long way. I am slowly starting to sense myself jumping on the Obama bandwagon. I still dont know enough about the guy, but Im starting to think that I could enthusiastically vote for him in 2008 if he plays his cards right. Which means that, wow, I would be a Democrat for the next four years. Never thought I would say that.

I had a good feeling about Obama ever since I first heard him speak at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was certainly the only bright point in what was otherwise an imbecilic gathering. When it comes down to it, I just really like this guy so far. He's young, he's cool, he's smart as a whip, but even beyond all that he seems to be as authentic as I can imagine anybody being in politics these days. He's a balanced thinker who gives appropriate sympathy to his opponents. He's a visionary. He may be inexperienced, but I guess Im kind of sick of watching all of the experienced guys make the same mistakes an inexperienced guy would make. Why not give Obama a chance I say? In light of the recent news about Hillary, I think Obama would be a very welcome alternative. Its just too bad his name is "Obama." The similarity to "Osama" can only hurt him in certain parts of the country Im sure.

Anyway, I read this article from the Atlantic Monthly website about Obama. You should check it out:

"RUN, BARACK, RUN!"

And after this, how can I not vote for the guy! :
