Im still just kickin' it around Chicago. I found a moment to duck into a coffee shop, get a chai latte, and use some free wireless internet. Ive been to two Christian schools so far today. At one, I talked for a while with the admissions representative from Providence College. I got to learn quite a bit about Providence that I had not heard before. For those who dont know, Providence is a brand new school (its inaugural class was only just last year) and it has a distinctly Reformed emphasis. It has a lot in common with Covenant (all of its professors are currently PCA) but it is not affiliated with a specific denomination. It draws PCA people, as well as URC, OPC, and other Reformed types. Its big competition is Dordt College because most reformed people west of the Mississippi tend to be Dutch, and Dutch people tend to go to Dordt or Calvin. Providence is in California, so its trying to corner the market for Reformed schools on the West Coast. I think they have a pretty cool thing going on so far. I hope they grow into a big school.
I have appreciated talking to other Admissions Representatives while on the road. I dont get to know them that well, but its nice to meet people who are going through the same experience that you are. So far, Ive met some really nice people. I was chatting about music with the Calvin rep last night. We were really on the same page. She loves artists like Hem, Jolie Holland, and the Be Good Tanyas, all artists I have been excited about lately.
I fly back to Chattanooga on Friday but you probably wont see me. I'll be there less than a day before I fly out to DC to start my two week Northeast circuit.
More later!
