Hem released their fourth album today. I have to say that in my estimation Hem is composed of the best up and coming songwriters working today. Over their past four albums they have continually excelled in their songwriting, production quality, and instrumentation.

Hem is the kind of group that pours heart and soul into every album, making every offering a small masterpiece. "Funnel Cloud" is no exception. They just do such a good job of recapturing the emotional core of old country, folk, and jazz songs, and they wrap it all in such an elegant, pastoral warmth. Every song tends to resonate with me immediately, with a strong melody and some kind of great bridge or hook.

Ive seen Hem twice in concert and I hope to see them again on October 4th in Atlanta. I've been able to meet them both times and they are very personable and good to their fans. They have really impressed me in just about every way and I hope to follow them for many years to come. I really cant think of another group that has put out such consistently good new material in the past few years. I strongly recommend you check them out!
