In honor of Easter, and new beginnings (congrats to Vince and Kiko) I need to resurrect this blog before I am once again threatened with deletion. Lets make yet another run of it.
The biggest item of news is that I will once again be justified in having a "chattablog" account because I will once again live in Chattanooga as of May 16. I have been hired to work at Covenant College as an ARDA (assitant regional director of admissions). Im excited to be taking the job. It brings me back to my favorite town in the world, near my family, a church I am quite fond of, and a lot of really great friends.
Ive had a good experience in Iowa and I wouldnt want to give the impression that Im running away in disappointment. I think Cono Christian School, where I have been teaching for the past year, is actually a pretty incredible place. I havent written about it a ton on this blog, but let me just say that small communities like Cono always tend to be unique and eccentric, but they dont always pull off being loveable and encouraging. But I can honestly say Ive felt enriched, encouraged, and loved by the community at Cono and I would recommend it to anybody who is willing to put up with some hardcore isolation for the sake of some incredibly fulfilling ministry to teens.
I spent some time in a boarding school when I was in high school, and althought my experience is limited, I think I can safely say that Cono is the best school of its kind that Ive ever come across (although its quite possibly the only school of its kind).
By the way did I mention that there are several openings to teach and dormparent at Cono next year. You should check it out and apply!
But nevertheless I am coming back to Chattanooga. As a single guy in my late twenties, I just dont think Im prepared to build a life out in the middle of Iowa just yet. But I think I can build a life in Chattanooga, near my family and a good supportive community. It just ultimately makes a lot more sense for me. I dont know what the future brings, but Id really like to have some stability in Chattanooga right now, at least for a few years.
Well, like I said, I am going to give this blog thing another go. I think since Ive been out of action for so long, theres a good chance that I have next to 0 readership right now. But maybe if I can keep this up, my readers can read this entry for the sake of context.
But really, what would living in Chattanooga be without having a "chattablog". Everybody should have one!
