Actually, the budget for Superman Returns was $270 million. The movie flopped - hence the reason for no sequel. End of story.

Todd, where in the world are you? How come you don't respond to my e-mails? Are you in love? Lost in your work? Wandering the streets of Boston with a far-off look in your eye?

Agree w/Kevin. The college can't be sanctioned for violating free speech - that's why I linked the info on the sidebar of the Covenant Needs Free Speech wiki.

However, free speech is a value of academic culture, and colleges are places of growth and open inquiry.

Ryan- I understand and agree with the position on free speech as it relates to legal rights. The administration, since it is not the state, is incapable of violating any Constitutional parameters. School newspapers do not enjoy the protection of the 1st amendment. You do widen the concept of freedom of speech to a secular virtue rather than a simple legal right. And, while I think I may take a more favorable view of secular virtues than you do, I'd rather defend the legitimacy of including the paragraph in question from a more specific perspective. Freedom of speech is an academic virtue, especially of an academy that wishes to present itself within the liberal arts tradition. Whether or not regarding Covenant as either secular or sacred is legitimate, it is still a liberal arts institution of higher learning. Freedom of speech and the protection thereof is simply a part of what Covenant is. The administration has forgotten just what it is that they work for. And for that they need to be downright ashamed.
